TRANSFORMER TABLEUniversity of Applied Sciences Regensburg, 2014
A concept designed to fit a medieval building in the ancient heart of the city of Regensburg. The special challenge was the diversity of the many rooms inside that old building.
The approach was to establish a piece of furniture that can be used in every individual room. It had to serve as a table in office and restaurant parts and as a partion wall in conference and workshop rooms.
no moving parts, no tools needed
A multifunctional piece of design that can be a table OR a partition wall.
The folded sheet metal slides into the circumferential notch around the table top. The plastic bumpers fill the gap and serve as floor protection when turned upside down. The design has no moving parts and can be transformed by one person only, without any tools.
