Born from the Ashes

FIRE, IN ITS BEAUTY AND DANGER, OPENS UP A SPACE FOR CONTEMPLATING THE TRANSIENT WITHIN THE ALREADY BURNT WOODEN CANDLE HOLDERS. THE MASTERFUL CRAFTSMANSHIP, INSPIRED BY A CENTURIES-OLD JAPANESE TECHNIQUE, TELLS A PROFOUND STORY SOLELY THROUGH THE CHARRED SURFACE. This poetic idea emerged after the bunt-down candles had started to lightly charr the surface of the rough wooden prototypes.

The colour combination of black and red creates a synthesis of elegance and festive expression. The three simple, repeating basic shapes merge into a fascinating geometric figure constructed on the same foundational form. TETRIS dazzles in three distinct variations: for three, five, or seven candles. They carry a rich heritage, inter-weaving tales of tradition, origins, and a longing for beauty.

THE HISTORY OF THE CHANDELIER

The candle holder first caught attention as a prototype made from scrap wood during this year's Kocherlball, an annual traditional Munich celebration. Every year in the middle of summer, people gather shortly after midnight in the English Garden, bringing their picnics, cutlery, and candles to illuminate the many tables of the still-sleeping and dark beer garden. With the first drinks served deep into the night, they experience the sunrise in the magical light of hundreds of chandeliers and dance in the morning dew.
On the eve of the celebration, on the hottest day of summer 2023, Johannes retreated to the cool workshop, where he crafted three rough prototypes of the candle holders specifically for the ball night. During the ball, the homemade chandeliers stood out from the crowd with their simple elegance, drawing attention. Many attendees were so impressed by these rough prototypes that they began to purchase them directly from the table. This was the moment when Verena, the founder of Salon c/o, first saw the chandeliers. Several months later, Magdalena and Johannes coincidentally stopped by her store and learned that she knew about their project and was already fascinated by it. This triggered the creation of the first edition of the chandeliers.
